Vendors considering US$299 tablet PCs for emerging markets

Many vendors are considering developing inexpensive tablet PCs priced at US$299 or below for sale in emerging markets including China, India, Brazil and Indonesia, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
Despite that Google has already released Android 4.0, while Nvidia has also announced its quad-core Tegra 3 processor, tablet PCs with the platform combination are still unable to create a threat against iPad 2, and with a new iPad estimated to appear in March, the gap in terms of brand power between non-Apple tablet PC vendors and Apple is still significant.
However, since Apple currently has not yet had interest in emerging and entry-level markets, non-Apple tablet PC players believe the business opportunity from these markets will become a driver for them to grow in the tablet PC market.
